School of Mountains and of Water (Escuela de las Montañas y del Agua)

16 Nicholson Street will show work collected around the film ‘La Nave’ by Atabey Mamasita (aka Carlos Maria Romero, Barranquilla, 1979). Mamasita is a Colombian Caribbean multidisciplinary artist whose practice concentrates on embodied, edifying, caring, pleasurable technologies and strategies of reclamation and resistance to hegemonic and historical violence and dereliction. Cardozo and guest curator Diego Chocano have collaboratively curated this exhibition with consultation from Mamasita. On show will be two other video pieces “KOWKÜLEN,” Liquid Being (2020) by Seba Calfuqueo, and Amaru’s Tongue: Daughter by Chuquimamani-Condori, as well as a commission of new site specific sculptural work by Glasgow-based Francisco Llinas Casas. Satellite events will include a dance workshop from Desculonizacion and a launch for the publication Zigzaguente, edited by Isabella Shields.
