Performance by Jen DeNike- Exhibition Closing Event “Rupture, Rapture: Womxn in Collage”  —
Jen DeNike

Day Event

Join us Saturday, 16th September, 16:30 at Patricia Fleming Gallery (4 Oxford Ln) for a live performance choreographed and performed by Jen DeNike in the closing event of “Rupture, Rapture: Womxn in Collage”.

“Becoming Rain” is a performance activating DeNike’s multi-media collage installation, presented within the exhibition. The artist’s practice of collage and performance have always been inextricably linked; one is not a product of the other, but rather the two are positioned in a constant dialogue. The performance will explore embodied methodologies of movement, ecstatic dance and repetition. “Becoming Rain” performance includes a musical score of selected tracks from Enyang Ha’s newly released debut album “Name of Your Light”.

Doors open at 16:30 and the performance begins at 17:00, and will take place in the outdoor courtyard (rain or shine) of Patricia Fleming Gallery, entry via the gate on 4 Oxford Ln.

“In the process of collaging, an alchemy of translation occurs. The collages evolve through acts of performance, or in reverse. An enactment of making and movement engage, a repetition of gestures become marks, mirrored layering accumulates; it is here the choreography of assemblage is found.”

– Jen DeNike
