Crimson Throne  —
Tom Krasny

This solo exhibition by Tom Krasny will be  the culmination of an extensive international research and experimentation period looking at and responding to the life and work of female Dada artist and anti-patriarchal activist, Elsa von Freytag Loringhoven (1874-1927) – Dada poet, visual artist, performer. The exhibition seeks to redress the lack of attention given to Elsa’s oeuvre, and to look with a contemporary lense at the pioneering work she did to explore resistance to gender constructs and the patriarchy. The title ‘Crimson Throne’ references a poem by Elsa, and alludes to her exclusion from the Dada and modernist canon.
