“Within my practice I am interested in exploring the ways that we communicate with one
another: how we display what we think and feel, and when that communication is missed or
confused. I’m interested in how we navigate and readjust our feelings and behaviours in relation
to changes around us.
I consider the oppositional pair: absence and presence. They rely on each other and can only
exist through an experience and memory of the other. Where a loss appears (physically or
emotionally) in the realization of the hole left, there is a shape in its absence. I use positive and
negative shapes in dialogue with one another, to give physical form to these concepts, often
exploring the impacts of grief and loss, and what grows within that empty space.”
