Ewan Mitchell

Ewan Mitchell (b. 1992 in Edinburgh, Scotland) is a Rotterdam based visual artist who graduated from the Glasgow School of Art, Fine Art Photography department in 2016. Since graduating, his work has evolved to encompass a diverse range of mediums and is currently focused on the creation of installations, which utilise video, image and sound based works to explore the links between historic and contemporary power structures.

Through the intersection of documentary and art his practice investigates the effects conflict, capitalism, and mass media have on society and personal experiences.

In 2017 he took part in the RSA New Contemporaries at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and was also involved in a mentorship programme with 16 Nicholson Street, which culminated in a group exhibition in Glasgow. He is currently undertaking a Masters at The Piet Zwart Institute in The Netherlands.
