Artists

Beth Shapeero is a sculptor/painter and arts facilitator. Her works playfully investigate abstraction and narrative with a soft aesthetic, considering surface, depth and the subconscious. The works seek a tension between the imperfect and the perfect, the contained and the released.  A shiny gloss, a drawing, a straight line, a crack. Something exposed, something controlled, a desire, a conflict, a dream. As an integral part of her practice she creates projects which promote more engagement in visual arts and deeper connections between visitors, artworks and artists.  She uses conversation, making, tours, meals and artwork giveaways to widen who might engage with the work and how.  She facilitates workshops in visual arts and youth empowerment for lots of organisations, principally, Glasgow Sculpture Studios, Glasgow Connected Arts Network and PEEK.
