Ani Schulze studied at Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, Glasgow School of Arts, at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and Kunstakademie Karlsruhe (2009- 2014).
Ani Schulze has developed a diverse body of works, often arranged in comprehensive spatial installations. Her films, drawings, sculptures and installations unfold visual worlds in which the mutual relationship and porous boundaries between body, technology, fantasy and space are encircled. They create non-linear and surreal narratives and unhinge our handling of power structures, norms and regulations. In doing so they play with the familiar while at the same time they evoke distrust.
Her work has been shown in various screenings, solo and group shows notably at I: Project Space Beijing, Kunsthalle Schirn Frankfurt, Oberhausen Short Film Festival, Marl Media Art Awards, Galerie Nagel Draxler, Temporary Gallery, Kölnischer Kunstverein, Museum für Neue Kunst Freiburg, Salzburger Kunstverein and Extra City Kunsthal in Antwerpen. She received grants and residencies by Goethe Institute China, I: Project Space, Schloss Ringenberg, Kunststiftung NRW, RAVI Liège, AiR Antwerpen, Innogy Stiftung, CEAAC and Fondazione Bevilaqua La Masa.
